BOTOX® and Dysport®Dysport - Botox Injections - Dermatology Associates of Concord - Botox near me

BOTOX®

Carefully injected in very tiny amounts, BOTOX (botulinum toxin) weakens the affected muscles to soften forehead lines, frown (glabellar) lines between the eyebrows (may also be referred to as the “11s”), and crow's feet (laugh lines around the eyes). BOTOX has also been successful in controlling excessive perspiration of the underarms, hands, and feet in both men and women.

Is It Safe?

BOTOX has been approved by the FDA and is considered safe. It is one of the most widely used cosmetic procedures in the world because of its safety and effectiveness.

What to Expect

During the procedure, you may be numbed, but BOTOX is typically performed without anesthetic in about 10 minutes. BOTOX will be injected into several sites around the affected area that you wish to improve. You can immediately resume normal activities as there is no downtime after this treatment. Many people come for injections on their lunch breaks.

Most patients begin seeing results within a week, and they typically last for 3 to 4 months. You can repeat the procedure every 3 to 4 months or less often if results are longer-lasting.

Dysport®

Another injection option is Dysport, also made from the same botulinum toxin as BOTOX. It is used to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

Is It Safe?

Dysport is considered safe and has no additives. It has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.

What to Expect

The office procedure is quick and virtually painless. After you receive the injections, you may have tiny bumps at the injection sites. You should remain in an upright position for four hours afterward and avoid exercise for 24 hours afterward.

The effects of Dysport are similar to BOTOX, although many patients notice results within a couple of days. Results usually last from 3 to 6 months. You can get Dysport injections every three months.

If you are having one of these injections in our office, please see these Pre- and Post-Care Instructions for Botox/Dysport.
